Welcome

Welcome!

Welcome to the Intermediate Game Design course! Here you will learn how to truly level up your game to be a professional work that you will want to showcase to the world.

This course assumes that you have already made a game. If you don’t have a game yet, you may want to start with the Intro to Game Design course, to turn your vision for a game into reality.

Throughout the course, there will be references for tips and tricks for games made in Core, but the ideas discussed here apply to any game made on any platform.

Polish

This lesson will focus on getting the visual, audio, and lighting and color of your game to the next level. You will make conscious design decisions about how your game should look, and then work through each of these different aspects to make your game into a polished work of art.

Project Management

As you continue to work on your game, you will need a method to keep track of past and future changes. This lesson will help you plan how and when you will update your game, and introduce you to the tools you need to make this an easy experience that scales with the success of your game.

Screenshots and Trailers

To make sure that the kind of players who would love your game actually play it, you need effective screenshots and a trailer that showcases the experience. In this lesson, you will think about the variety of visual representations you will need for your game, and set up a play session with friends to start recording it.

Promotion

Now that you have a plan for how to continue growing your game, and the essential visual elements for showcasing it, you need a strategy for broadcasting these developments to the world. In this lesson you will learn about different platforms for posting about your game, as well as the key elements of making a website and press kit for your game.
