Create Modular Content

Core has a lot of objects in Core Content that can be used to kitbash anything you like. For this course, we will focus on making some axes. Below you will learn how to create a couple of modular pieces that will fit together nicely when randomly spawned.

The Screenshot Setup template that was placed into the Hierarchy has a folder called Container inside the Dummy Object. The Container is where all modular pieces should be placed when you are building them.

Create Blades

  1. Create a new group called Blade 1 inside the Container group in the Hierarchy. This group will contain all the objects that make up the blade.
  2. For this blade, the parts used are Fantasy Axe Base 01, Fantasy Axe Blade 01, and Fantasy Axe Blade 01.
  3. Arrange the objects so they form the look for the blade you are after.
  4. The blade will need to be networked. So drag it out of the Container folder into the root of the Hierarchy and select Enable Networking.
  5. Create a new template from the object called Blade 1.
  6. Repeat this until you have a few different blades that look unique.

Add Templates to Blades Data Table

Now you have some blades created, they can be added to the Blades data table. Add all your blade templates to the data table.

Create Handles

  1. Create a new group called Handle 1 inside the Container group in the Hierarchy. This group will contain all the objects that make up the handle.
  2. For this handle, the parts used are Fantasy Axe Grip 01, Fantasy Pommel 02, and Fantasy Hammer Guard 01.
  3. Arrange the objects so they form the look for the handle you are after.
  4. The handle will need to be networked. So drag it out of the Container folder into the root of the Hierarchy and select Enable Networking.
  5. Create a new template from the object called Handle 1.
Repeat this until you have a few different handles that look unique.

Add Templates to Handles Data Table
